Been playing some games lately, even though I’m supposed to be working. Lol. And sorry, no Plants vs Zombies here.
Frets on Fire is a Guitar Hero clone that runs on Windows, Mac and Linux. It is written in Python by some Finnish Guys and comes pretty close to the real thing. It can even interface with your guitar controllers if you have any. I use my inverted keyboard. What’s really cool about it is that you can import songs from the real Guitar Hero games, or even, with some minor knowledge of guitar and tabs, load up any song (that you can convert to ogg), even your own. I’ve been using it lately to gain some practice so that I look decent when I go to Timezone.
If Physics is your thing you might want to check out these flash games, too.
Fragger (got it from @chitchu) is grenade throwing game where your goal is to blow up everyone. If you liked Worms, you might like this.
I really had a nice time playing Cargo Bridge. Your goal is to build a bridge for your workers to get across to retrieve some items (of different weights). It’s a nice “intellectually stimulating” game that has kept me up late sometimes. If you’re into more cutesy characters, try Bridge Craft, which is basically the same thing except with furry aliens.
Lastly, we’ve got something that combines construction and destruction. In Demolition City your goal is to demolish buildings with explosives, while: keeping the rubble at a minimum, and not damaging nearby buildings. The one-song soundtrack is also pretty catchy.
There you have it. I hope these games put a dent in your productivity like they did mine. heh. Have fun!
